The business associate (BA), Bansley and Kiener, LLP, reported that it experienced a ransomware attack affecting the protected health information (PHI) of 70,941 individuals. The PHI involved included names and social security numbers. The BA notified HHS, affected individuals, and the media. In response to the breach, the BA provided complimentary credit monitoring services and implemented additional administrative, technical, and security safeguards. OCR provided technical assistance to the BA.
