Legal
Terms of use
These terms apply to breachrecords.org, a BreachScout product. Using the site means accepting them. Effective Oct. 18, 2026.
What the records are
The site lists breach notices posted by regulators and cybersecurity incidents disclosed by companies, drawn from the public sources named on the sources page. Each record reproduces what a source stated, attributed to that source, as of the dates shown on the record. BreachRecords is not a regulator and makes no finding of its own about any organization, event, cause or fault.
What the records are not
A record is not a statement that an organization did or did not suffer any particular harm, and the absence of a record states only that the sources and dates covered hold none. The site publishes no measure that ranks or judges an organization. Nothing on the site is legal, financial, security or professional advice.
Accuracy and corrections
Every record is reviewed by a person before it is listed, and every organization and incident page carries a correction form. We acknowledge every request within two business days. Sources revise their entries, and a record may lag a source until its next review; the record shows the dates it reflects.
Reuse and citation
The underlying facts come from public sources under the terms listed on the sources page, which govern their reuse. The site's own text, layout and compilation may be quoted with a link to the record page. Automated bulk collection of the pages is not permitted; a bulk export and an API are planned.
Archived documents
Archived copies of source documents are served only where the source's terms allow it and a permission decision is recorded. They remain the property of their publishers and are served for reference, as archived, with their retrieval details.
Availability and liability
The site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and may change or become unavailable at any time. To the extent the law allows, BreachScout is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on a record. A record's source remains the authoritative statement.
Changes
These terms may change. The effective date above marks the current version.
